July 15, 1902, a memorable date for the Hayskulanos and Hayskulanas, this is day that a certain provincial high school was opened in the municipality of Nueva Caceres which is now, Naga City, the school was headed by Mr. Frank Crone, and Ms. Minerva Udell, his assistant. The school started with 70 students and 4 American Mentors, the attendance increased and by the end of the first term there were 200 students.

In 1915, the school known as Camarines High School was transferred to Via Gainza Street, now Peῇafrancia Avenue from Mabini Street of Barangay San Francisco. The Peῇafrancia Avenue is its present location.


The school was temporarily close during the Japanese Occupation (1943-1945). The Gabaldon Building served as garrison for Japanese soldiers under Colonel Isabashi. In 1945, the school re-opened after the American Liberation.


In the year 1950, former Naga City Mayor Leon SA Aureus initiated the organization of Camarines Sur High School Alumni Association.


In 1968, Night Class was opened until 1983 to address the needs of working students.


In June 29, 1969, with the effort of Mr. Pedro O. Bornas, the school principal from1961-1977, former Congressman Ramon Felipe, Ms Pura Luisa Magtuto and Estela Anciano, former President Ferdinand E. Marcos approved RA 5529 converting the institution into CAMARINES SUR NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL.


Years from 1977 to 1992, Ms. Pura Luisa Magtuto became the principal. More school buildings and facilities were built during her term, which includes the Student Pavilion in 1978.


In 1991, the Engineering and Science Education Program was launched under an enriched curriculum in English, Science and Technology and Mathematics.


Under the leadership of Mrs. Elizabeth P. Palo in the years 1994- 2002, additional buildings were constructed and in 1999 and 2000, the Special Education Program and Special Program in the Arts were opened.


November 2002, Mrs. Nely S. Abad assumed principalship. Night Class was re-opened but called Late Afternoon Class for working students. New Deped Programs were offered such as Special Program in Sports, Family Farm Curriculum, Strengthened Technical-Vocational Education Program, Career Pathway- Technology and Livelihood Education and foreign Language. More importantly under Mrs. Abad, the school became a Hall of Fame awardee- the best BRIGADA ESKWELA implementer nationwide for big schools category- secondary level.
